Tinkering with Ghost
I can't explain why I do things, and I'm weary of making excuses for doing them. However...
Today, I'm tinkering with my dormant Ghost blog here at copingmechanism.com. It's a paid Ghost(Pro) that I fired up when the Fediverse features were made available. I wanted to try it.
How many times have I started a new blog with Ghost (or worse, moved an existing blog to Ghost?) Let's say, "several". It happens when I tire of being responsible for the entire publishing stack. On baty.net (running Hugo as of this writing) I have to create a new text file, edit front matter, render the site, and push the changes to a server that I own, which means I'm also responsible for the web server, backups, email configuration, updates, security, etc. Some days I don't feel like thinking about all that. Today, for example. Today, I'm typing and clicking a "publish" button. For $10/month I needn't worry about any of that. I'm not even able to edit the theme's files on this plan. Still, today, for right now, it's a nice change of pace.
So, I've tried explaining things again, sorry. I'm using Ghost today, is the thing.
Oh, btw, the account for following this blog on, say, Mastodon is @index@copingmechanism.com. Some day they'll let us change the @index
part, I hope.
