TiddlyWiki > Obsidian

I just want to say how much I enjoy using TiddlyWiki, especially when compared to Obsidian.

TiddlyWiki is weird and old and has all sorts of limitations. None of the limitations bother me much, and its weirdness might be its greatest strength. Besides, everyone uses Obsidian. Using TiddlyWiki feels like zagging.

I maintained a personal-but-public wiki from 2018 through the end of 2025. Much of that content consisted of daily journal entries that ultimately seemed redundant and were a bit TMI for my taste, so I took it offline and archived everything.

Yesterday, though, I realized that I missed having a public place for random stuff so I started a new wiki from scratch. It's at the same place as the old one:

👉 rudimentarylathe.org

There is no RSS feed or email notifications about new content. It's meant as a place that's mostly for me, but putting it "out there" helps clarify things, and some of it might even be useful to others.

I can copy stuff from my old wiki by simply dragging note titles from one browser window to another. The entire wiki consists of a single, portable, long-lasting HTML file.

It's pretty cool.
