foobar2000

Although I have a lifetime subscription to Roon, I often listen to music using the most minimal ways I can find. Recently, that's been ready-player in Emacs. There are times when that's a little too minimal.

Today, I learned about foobar2000 (thanks to Paweł Orzech). It runs on macOS and Windows (I didn't see a Linux version) and is as simple as can be.

I pointed it at my main Music folder, picked some songs, and I was off and listening.

The UI is wildly customizable, but I've not delved into that yet, because the way it's done looks like this:

foober2000 is worth a look if you lean toward a minimal music player experience.
