The first time I saw this I was a teenager, and it was the 70s, so all their fancy tools and gadgets and computers and alien life could not have landed harder. When Dr. Leavitt missed that "No growth" slide I almost lost it. So fun. Their laser tracking system sucked, though.

Today, I'm going with 4 stars because it's still great. The problem today is that half the film is spent decontaminating themselves in all sorts of cool-at-the-time-but-now-rather-dull ways. Still, I like a movie with a sensible pace that can still be thrilling.
