I got bored

The past couple of weeks my blogging has been, let's say, chaotic. I rebuilt the Tinderbox file that manages and generates daily.baty.net. I spent more time tinkering with Pure Blog. I tidied up bits of my Hugo workflow. I even considered bringing the wiki back.

Yesterday, I was back all-in with just baty.net using Hugo and Emacs. I woke up this morning and decided I wanted to play with Ghost again. MagicPages is great for Ghost hosting, but since I'm sure this is just a short-term playground, I went as cheap as I could and spun up a PikaPod Ghost pod. Self-hosting Ghost isn't much fun. Email from Ghost is necessary, so I had to configure Mailgun for the domain and figure out how to get the pod talking to it. The new "native" analytics for Ghost uses an external TinyBird service and was too much trouble to set up, so I threw in the Umami script instead.

Then there's theming. I don't hate the default "Source" theme, but I always have to remove or hide all the extra subscription nonsense. Fortunately, I kept a copy of the custom CSS from the last time I did this.

So here we are. I don't know if or when I'll post here, but there's always RSS and you can follow me @jack@copingmechanism.com.
